The kitchen staff provides the fuel for area seniors day in and day out. They make between 1,500 and 1,700 meals each week, whether it’s at the senior center or through the ‘Meals on Wheels’ program. The seniors make them feel appreciated for their good cooking.“If it wasn’t for the drivers, if it wasn’t for the front of the house, we wouldn’t see anybody, we wouldn’t have the meals,” said Theresa McMaster, kitchen assistant. “It makes your heart just… It’s a good feeling.”McMaster has been providing different dishes for the past four years, and she knows that it’s not all business, all the time.“We’ve got a good team back here, and we have a lot of fun,” said McMaster. “We do a lot of joking as you can tell, and it just makes the days go fast, and it makes us know that what we’re doing is really going to benefit somebody.”A happy staff makes a happy meal, and that’s what you can expect out of the senior center kitchen every day.“We all pull together when we need to, and everybody helps each other out, so it’s a nice place to work,” said kitchen assistant Heather Styma.AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to FacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitterShare to MoreAddThis Tags: Alpena Senior Center, Alpena Senior Citizens Center, Eating, food, Kitchen, Meals, Meals on Wheels, SeniorsContinue ReadingPrevious Photo of the Day for Wednesday, May 15Next Student art gallery opens at Besser Museum
Ghana’s Black Maidens head Coach Evan Adotey has said in his radio interview that it is never true that his team collected bribe from their Canadian counterparts hence the 1-2 defeat they suffered to them.Ghana lost 2-1 to Canada in the last group ‘B’ game of the ongoing Under 17 female World Cup Tournament currently in Costa Rica. And even though the head Coach attributed his team’s defeat to complacency on the part of his girls, Ghanaian football fans have insisted that the team played poorly and lost because of the bribe coach Adotey collected from the Canadians ahead of the game. “It is never true that our last game was a fixed match because we took bribe from the Canadians I can never do that.“These are only rumours because I don’t think anybody has evidence to that. We lost to Canada and we must accept that because on the day we were a bit complacent.“These rumours could dampen the spirits of the girls so I will urge Ghanaian fans to stay away from it”.He said The Maidens will play Italy on Thurday in a quarter final clash.
