Mother’s Day run to send kids to summer camp

first_imgGOULDSBORO — For moms who would rather spend their Mother’s Day morning competing in a road race, they can in the second annual “Moms on the Run” 5K.The race will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, at the Peninsula Grammar School and end at the Acadian Community Woman’s Club — a civic organization in Gouldsboro and Winter Harbor, which is just a short distance from the race’s start.A one-mile Fun Run will take place beforehand at 8:30, and registration will begin at 7:30 at the grammar school.Both runners and walkers are welcome to participate.This is placeholder textThis is placeholder textThe Acadian Community Woman’s Club began organizing the race to raise money to send children to summer camp. Proceeds will benefit the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund for Peninsula students.Last year, more than 70 runners/walkers participated. The money raised allowed 12 children to attend a summer camp of their choice.The registration fee for the Fun Run is $5. Michigan State guard Joshua Langford to miss rest of season with ankle injury
