Eight adults to receive Sacraments of Initiation on Easter Vigil

Archbishop Scicluna will administer these sacraments during the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday which will start at 8pm at St John’s Co-Cathedral.READ: Watch: ‘Let’s surrender ourselves to pruning’ – Archbishop on Ash WednesdayIn preparation for tonight’s life-changing event, they met with Archbishop Scicluna throughout lent.One of the adults, is Cristina, a 43-year-old woman who arrived in Malta two years ago to learn English. Despite she was brought up in a predominantly Muslim country, her mother who is a Catholic, passed on Catholic teachings and values to her. Once in Malta, Cristina met with the Dominican Sisters of Malta who introduced her to catechism at the Lija Parish Church. Having longed to actively practice her Catholic faith, Cristina started on the path which led her to this evening’s event where she will receive the sacraments of initiation to become a new member of the Catholic church.The Easter Vigil is held in the hours of darkness between sunset on Holy Saturday and Sunrise on Easter Day. During the Vigil, the Lord’s resurrection is announced. The Liturgy of Baptism where water is blessed with the Paschal candle, not only cathecumens baptised, but all those baptised are invited to recall their baptism and the commitment taken.
